Program Overview

Certificate in Christian Ministry Program: In order to enrich the lives and ministries of lay leaders, deacons, and believers who are interested in theological education, we intend to first provide a Certificate in Christian Ministry. In other words, thiscertificate program will focus on the training of lay leaders, deacons, and believers who 4 areinterested in growing in their knowledge of God’s word as they prepare and plan to serve their localchurches and/or embark on a degree program. For lay leaders and deacons, the program will preparethemto effectively serve the church by equipping them with the necessary skills for such a service.

Certificate in Christian Ministry program can help church leaders and people who are thinking aboutgetting a degree in the future by giving them a solid foundation in the Bible and ministry. There couldbe anywhere from 13 to 15 credit hours needed to finish a certificate program.

Introduction to Preaching

This course shows the basics of expository preaching and how preaching is based on the Bible.Students will learn how to prepare and structure a sermon, as well as the basics of persuasion andsermon delivery.

Christian Leadership

This course will survey the biblical, historical, and theological bases of leadership, as well as how people see leadership. The goal is for students to learn various methods of leadership and management styles in the service of Christ.

History of Christianity

This course provides an overview of the theology of the ancient, medieval, and reformation churches. In each era, key figures, confessions, and themes are examined (focusing especially on issues of biblical interpretation, the doctrine of the Trinity, Christology, and church practice).

Hermeneutics

Hermeneutics is the science and art of biblical interpretation. This course will lay out in a scientific and orderly fashion the common categories and rules for biblical interpretation while also appreciating and exploring the artistic flexibility that is also an inherent part of interpreting scripture.

NT Survey

This course is designed to take students through an introduction and overview of the Gospels and Acts, and the books from Romans to Revelation. This course will present topics such as authorship, purpose, outline, and major themes of each book.

Inductive Bible Study

This course will introduce the student to an inductive method of biblical study. Emphasis will be placed on the practice of observation, interpretation, and application.

OT Survey

This course is a survey of the Old Testament canon. Beginning with the creation account in Genesis, this class traces the redemptive-historical development through to the end of King David’s reign. The emphasis is on the narrative of the Bible story as presented through sacred history.

Introduction to Christian Theology

This course is a survey of the doctrines of God, the Trinity, Christ, Holy Spirit, salvation, sin, man, theChurch, and scripture.

Course Delivery Methods

Certificate programs can be taught in a variety of ways, such as in a traditional classroom, through online tools like Zoom or video conferencing, or in other ways

Language of Instruction

For the certificate program, three languages such as Chin (Lai), Burmese, and English could be used. When deemed necessary, an interpreter will be available.

Admission Requirements

Students who want to help out at their local churches can apply to the Certificate in Christian Ministry program.
